Steve Adelson: Biosketch

Steve is a thirty year veteran in public education He has taught history courses through Montana State University and the Heritage Institute. His flagship field courses, “Apocalypse at Little Bighorn: Custer’s Final Battle” and “The Bozeman Trail: Days of Thunder” have provided a fascinating living history experience to over four hundred teachers enrolled in these classes. Steve has presented to dozens of history groups, schools and organizations and led numerous private tours.

In 2003 Steve was asked to lead a discussion and weapons demonstration on the History Channel Documentary “Battlefield Detectives: Custer at Little Bighorn”.

He has visited many of the significant battlefield sites in Montana and Wyoming, examining events that transpired at these places. Steve has worked and associated with leading historians including Stephen Ambrose, Robert Utley, Neil Mangum, Doug Scott and Rich Fox. Steve is a board member of the Ft. Phil Kearny- Bozeman Trail Association and the Sheridan County Historical Society. He belongs to the KFR Frontier Regulars, Custer Battlefield Historical Museum Association, Custer Battlefield Preservation Society and Little Bighorn Associates. He is a former member of the Museum of the Rockies, Ft. Laramie Historical Society, Sheridan Historical Association, and the Pioneer Museum in Bozeman, Montana.

Steve holds a B.A. in Social Studies from Pacific Lutheran University and a M.S. in Education from Montana State University.
